It's Aloha Friday! For most of you that don't have to work weekends, this is a day to look forward to. There's a weekend to just "lay back", relax, and unwind. For Priscilla and I, it's just another day of work. Am I complaining - no way! I live in Hawaii, I get to wear shorts and an aloha shirt every day, and we have the best customers.... as long as you are here we have a reason to exist. Speaking of "Aloha Friday", how many of you know it's origin - how it came to be? Well, way back in 1962 a group called the Hawaiian Fashion Guild wanted to promote the use of aloha shirts and clothing for use in the business workplace. So, what did they do? They started a campaign called "Operation Liberation". Sorry, girls - this has nothing to with Women's Lib. The Guild had the brilliant idea of giving (as in free) two aloha shirts to every member of the Hawaii House of Representatives and the Hawaii Senate. Subsequently, a resolution was passed in the Senate recommending that "aloha attire" be worn throughout the summer months, beginning on Lei Day. In 1965 the Hawaiian Fashion Guild started another campaign lobbying for a "Aloha Friday". They wanted businesses to allow men to wear aloha shirts on the last business day of the week (Friday) for a few months of the year. This has evolved into what we know it today, where aloha wear is acceptable on any day of the week. "Aloha Friday" has kept it's title and meaning - you are saying goodbye to the work week - "It's Aloha Friday, No Work 'til Monday".
For those of you that missed Fran's "Floral and Masculine" class last Wednesday (25th), it was a blast. Some classes are very studious. This one was - to put it simply - "loud". Everyone had so much fun and it was contagious. As promised, I've included photos of the class "samples" and a few "candid" shots. Also, the samples are on display in the store - take your own photos if you want to.

You may be getting the idea that Fran's classes are filling up very quickly. As an example, her June 13th class is already 1/2 full and the June 27th class has but one seat remaining. The subject for the June 13th class is unknown at the time of this writing. The June 27th class will be her "A Year in Cards" class and the theme will be"Gratitude".
If any of you have an idea for a class that you would like to see us schedule or want to get a group together to take a class, please let us know. This your store.....take advantage of the opportunity and the tables. We often have new people in the store and they ask "can we use the tables"? The answer is yes and it's free during store hours as long as something else hasn't been scheduled.
I mentioned in my last Blog about the arrival of new paper. Those of you that have been in the store have complimented us on the beautiful colors and the varied selection. Priscilla deserves all of the credit. Please come in and take advantage of the selections while the supplies last.
That's all for now.... I'll see you tomorrow.
