Lynell has a new OWL stencil and you have to go the website, www.dreamweaverstencils.com click on blog and select July, to see Wayne's fantastic Zentangle design. Wayne's creative work definitely put the WOW factor in that cute OWL. Lynell is also introducing a few dies that work well with her stencil designs!

The best part is Lynell has secured a night of sharing Stencil Techniques at the Kalihi Library on Friday, September 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p. m. Class size is limited to 25 and the cost is $35.00 which includes a free stencil. Just bring at least 3 stencil brushes and straight edge spatula ( 3.5" - 7.0" ). If you don't have the brushes or straight edge spatulas, there will be some available for sale as well as Stencils and other supplies. All other materials will be provided: paper, ink pads, embossing paste and other coloring technique supplies. Grab this wonderful opportunity to meet Lynell and Wayne and learn from the master in stenciling. Priscilla will be there to guide you as well.

HAPPENINGS AT A PLACE IN TIME on AUGUST 25, 2014

Aloha Everyone,

It's the "Dog Days" of August and my air conditioned office feels feels really good. Since it's getting towards the end of the month you are probably wondering what Fran is going to be doing for her class on Saturday August 30th. The class is called "Hip to be Square". For those of us that survived the 60's we know what she means. Those taking the class will be making several cards and the last one is a mini card holder set (3x3 cards). I've seen the samples and what Fran has created is very unique and beautiful. You will find photos of the cards below. The class is from 1:30 - 3:30pm. I'll be seeing Fran tonight and I'll verify the cost. It may be posted on her Blog at littlepaperstudio.blogspot.com. The tools you will need to bring include: paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive ( both tape and glue ), dimensional tape, scoring tool that scores in 1/4" increments, square 1" punch, and a corner rounder. If you have a 1-1/4" square punch bring it also. If you are interested in taking the class please call either Fran or I and we will sign you up.

We received some great news last week. Lynell Harlow (Dreamweaver Stencils) is coming back to the islands. She and Priscilla have been talking and as soon as I know what's happening I'll let you know. I received an e-mail yesterday of a new stencil Lynell has designed - a Jellyfish. I'll try and show you the photo below. Today, as I was about to make a visit it my favorite coffee shop, the postman arrived with 8 boxes sent to us from Lynell. Can't wait to see what treasures they hold. Has Lynell come up with a new technique in using her stencils??? Stay tuned.

Dreamweaver Jellyfish

Upon our return from vacation we have been very busy in the Laser Den. It may not seem like it, but people are starting to place their Christmas orders. We've been working with the Augustine Educational Foundation and have taken their quilt pattern and developed it into a layered bookmark and Christmas ornament. My photos below is a humble attempt to give you an idea of what they look like. The actual samples are really stunning.

The last thing that I have to mention is that we are making progress on our new website. If you have the time, go to ptcraftshop.com and take a look. Under the "Shop" tab we will be showing all of our stencils and offering them for purchase. I like the dynamics of the new website.

That's all for now. Have a great week and I hope to see you soon,

Bill

HAPPENINGS AT A PLACE IN TIME on JULY 22, 2014

Aloha Everyone,

It's good to back from our vacation to Oregon. There were days when it was actually hotter there than here in Hawaii. Oregon can be that way with temperature swings of 20 degrees within 24 hours. Mostly, I found myself wearing jeans and socks/tennis shoes. Ist birthdays are always a fun occasion and Priscilla and I saw some old friends. Having all the grandchildren together was the best part.

Now it's back to work and I believe I've caught up to the work that had to wait while I was gone. Fran has a class this coming Saturday (July 26th) from 1:30 -4:30pm. The people attending the class will learn how to make an accordion book. For details you can check out Fran's Blog - littlepaperstudion.blogspot.com. It will tell you the supplies that you will need to bring. One of the choices you will have to make is a paper selection. Choose one of the following four papers.

1.Pink and Green
2.Red and Green
3. Lavender and Green
4. Purple and Green

The cost of the class is $25.00 and you can call me or Fran to sign up. The following are photos of the class samples. Anybody taking this class will not be disappointed.

Hopefully, we will see you on Saturday.

Have a great week,

HAPPENINGS AT A PLACE IN TIME ON JUNE 3, 2014

Aloha Everyone,

I just received the photos from Fran and wanted to share them with everyone. Her class is this coming Saturday (June 8th - 1:30 to 3:30pm). The cards are so cute - I think you will really enjoy making them. There is still space in the class so give me a call if you are interested. The cost is $23.00 and you can find a list of the supplies you will need to bring on Fran's blog - littlepaperstudio.blogspot.com

Fran's Card #2

Fran's  Card #3

I continue to be busy at my Lase Den. We have become specialists in taking a companies logo and recreating it in the language of the laser that allows us to engrave it on multiple items and materials. Have you eaten recently at the Uahi Island Grill? They placed a medium sized order for engraved pint glasses that they will be using and selling in their Kailua restaurant.

Put your favorite beverage in the glass and the image really "pops"

I never know what the request will be from day to day. Recently, The Four Seasons on Lana'i requested their logo to be engraved on a Kendama. We are also in the process of making door signs for their housekeeping and engineering departments. And there is always a weekly order for our wood name tags that have a magnet backing.

This is my artistic rendering of the engraved Kendama
Room Signs

Ken, with Tunista Services, has been using our services to engrave Koa Boxes that he uses as gifts. We, who live in Hawaii know how special it is to receive something made out of Koa.

Koa Boxes

My background in architecture is a real blessing when it comes to assisting our clients in they goals they set for themselves. Sometimes I get to use it around the house. Over the past couple of months I have created a little garden of plants and (most recently) a water feature to look out on as I sit in the Laser Den. Sure makes the driveway look pretty.

Not shown are the cranes that add a nice touch to the display

Sometimes the small birds like to visit for a drink
That's all for now. Hopefully I will see you on Saturday for Fran's class. If I can help you with any engraving projects please give me a call.

Have a great week,

Bill

Happenings at A Place in Time on 23 April 2014

Aloha Everyone,

I received photos from Fran of what people will be making at the class this coming Saturday (Apri 26th - 1:30 to 3:30 pm) and wanted to share them with you. Fran has done an outstanding job and anyone taking the class will be very pleased with what they learn. For details on the class, please visit Fran's Blog - littlepaperstudio.blogspot.com

This is really a beautiful front to a card. You can't wait to open it to see what surprises are inside.

The cards opens and there is a wonder of detail. How in the world did she do it?

And then there is a little message for that one who is special in your life.

You can call me or Fran to sign up for the class. Please check Fran's Blog for the supplies you will need to bring.  See you on Saturday.

We have been very busy in the "Laser Den". If there is anything we can assist you with, please let us know.
