Good Evening All,

Priscilla finished the samples for her Stenciling Techniques Class yesterday and I've posted them on the Class Board in the store. There are four "tags" that you make. They demonstrate with a single stencil you can achieve four different distinct "looks". Mica powders, glitter, gold leafing, and embossing powders are the ingredients for a really fun time. If you haven't used these materials or just need a refresher course, this is the class for you. The class is scheduled for next Sunday - December 4th - 2:00 to 4:00pm. The cost of the class is $25.00 and includes the stencil you will be using. Supplies to bring includes: Double Sided Tape, a Red and Green ink pad, 2-3 Stencil Brushes, and your favorite Red, Green, and Gold Glitter. If you have any questions please give me a call at the store.

Happenings at A Place in Time on November 25, 2011

Good Evening Everyone,

Wow!!! What a great Thanksgiving. This year we were invited to share the meal and a fun evening with some very good friends. For the first time in my memory, Priscilla wasn't up until past midnight "prepping" for the following day. We enjoyed a very delicious feast prepared with loving hands and we will be enjoying the left overs for a couple of days. I really like my turkey sandwiches. But most of all I am really thankful for good friends and the many blessing that are sent my way. My major blessing is to have Priscilla as a wife and best friend. Life is good.

Now...... New arrivals found their way to our store on Wednesday and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. Boxes from Sizzix were opened and the shelves have been restocked with the popular Eclips and Big Shot Machines. Those of you that pre-ordered the machines can come in and pick them up. Priscilla has anticipated that their demand will continue and has already placed another order.

Since we are on the subject of the Eclips, I can't wait to tell you Sizzix has launched it's highly anticipated eCAL software. You may be familiar with the consumer friendly Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) software that has been so popular with electronic cutting users. The eCAL software empowers the Eclips users to plug in their Eclips Machine to their PC or Mac. I am amazed at what the Eclips will be able to accomplish. Among other things, you will be able to create and modify your own designs, use any True Type or Open Type font, weld multiple shapes and letters into one, cut-score-draw unique shapes, and so much more. And the best thing to me is you will be using an electronic tool that cuts cleanly and is user friendly. The learning curve should be easy.

Now for the best news, for a limited time you can purchase the eCAL software at a special introductory price of $29.99. We are taking pre-orders now and will continue to do so until Dec. 24th. This will allow us the time to place last minute orders. As of January 1st, the eCAL's introductory price ends and the price will become $79.99. Also available to you will be the ability to pre-order the Eclips with the eCAL software already loaded onto the machine.

Lastly for tonight, you will be happy to know that we received more of the super popular embossing folders from Sizzix. Many of our customers requested that we re-order two of the designs that are perfect for the Christmas season. The "Snowflakes and Branches Set" and the "Winter Botanical's Set" are now available. Joining them are new embossing folders (1) "Peacocks & Leaves Set", (2) Blossom, Circles, Leaves, & Diamonds Set", (3) Daisy & Paisley Set", and (4) Birds & Blooms Set". All of the above sets are designed for an A2 card size. The "Winter Botanicals Set" includes three small embossing folders that would be perfect for tags or smaller scaled cards. You will have fun combining the embossed images with the liquid pearls.

Happenings at A Place in Time on November 20, 2011

Good Evening Everyone,

It's only been two days since my last blog but I can't wait to make this post. Our past weekend was busy and a lot of fun. What makes for a fun day? I believe Priscilla and I would both agree - it's the people who come in for a visit. Each day is a surprise. Some of you drive a long distance and that's a special complement to us. As an example, on Saturday Melanie and Byron stopped by the store. People who have them as friends have something special in their lives. I enjoy their personalities, even if Melanie tries to harass me a little bit. And Byron is a guy who can "hold his own" in the crafting department.

On Sunday Priscilla and I met Jenny and Jeff. They were new to the store and Jenny was amazed at the size of the store and all that it had to offer. After an hour or more of demos and browsing they left with Jenny's parting words "I'll be back". Jeff said "you know she will ". Ha! I forgot to say my parting line "I'll see you tomorrow".

Also on Sunday, Debbie popped by with a special gift. Have you all ever seen a "Pineapple Turkey? I've enclosed a photo and Priscilla and I are at loss for words. What a special treat. If you are handy with a needle and thread you could create your own center piece for your Thanksgiving dinner. The new wood platters that we are now carrying in the store makes a perfect base to display this "special flavored" turkey. Thank you Debbie, you made our day.

Priscilla has been working on her next (2nd Sunday) Make & Take It. Plan on being at the store on Sunday December 11th 2:00pm - 5:00pm. She has entitled it "Frosty's Diorama. The major players in the diorama are a Sister's Stamp (Frosty), a Tree Branch punch from McGill, paper from Bazzill and Spicer, and several of the pens from Copic. I wish I was a better photographer - you will have to come by the store and see the actual sample. This Make It & Take It project is going to be a lot of fun.

Happenings at A Place in Time on November 18, 2011

Good Morning to you all,

It's been almost two weeks since my last posting to the blog. It's not because I've been that busy or that lazy. Doesn't it seem like the older you get the time just seems to slip by all to easily? When I was growing up the hours seemed to hang suspended. I'm sure mom got tired of hearing my brother and I lament "but mom, were bored -there's nothing to do". Boy, do I wish for those days to return. I always thought that as I got older I would have more time to do those things that I enjoy. It's a good thing I enjoy this job. The truth is it's not the job - it's being able to help those of you that come into the store and the things I learn from you. So, I have to kick myself into a higher gear and be more active in publishing the blog.

Veteran's Day weekend slipped by and several of you took advantage of Priscilla's Copic Pen Demos, Make and Take It's, and Stenciling Demos held each day. The store was filled with

laughter and good fun. By the end of the 3 day holiday Priscilla was ready for a deserved rest. I believe Priscilla is planning on having a Copic Pen class in the near future. I truly appreciate what these pens are capable of doing. They are a great tool for both the novice (me) and the expert (definitely not me). No wonder they are a favorite tool of the stamping enthusiasts. Their blending capability is awesome.

Next up is Thanksgiving. We will be closed for Thanksgiving. A day off!!!!!! What will I do with myself? There will be no 4 day weekend of for us though. It will be back to work on Friday. I've already started doing a little early decorating. Priscilla showed me how to make fortune cookies out of paper. Check out the die cut from Tim Holtz that offers a scalloped edge to your fortune cookie. I think they make great ornaments that can have a surprise gift inside. You could attach mistletoe to the bottom of the fortune cookie and hang them around the house. Hmm - imagine the fun that could be? Come by the store and I'll show you how easily you can make one.

What's new in the store? We had a shipment arrive yesterday from SRM. Do you remember the wonderful acrylic tubes we had in the store earlier this year? They were extremely popular as everyone became very creative in decorating them. Use them to make great party favors or small gifts to be handed out at your holiday get-together. What's even better? They are available in 3 different sizes. To accessorize them, SRM also sent us several clear stickers for you to use. As you will see from the photos, the options for their use in a scrapbook or on a card is unlimited. See what your own imagination can come up with.

The last thing I have for you is a photo of a card and tag that Debbie bought into the store a couple of days ago. I really enjoy these bits of joy that surprise me and offer inspiration for future design ideas. Debbie's card designs have a simple elegance that I admire. I would never have thought to use gauze as a design element. And the use of a single button is very effective as it balances the use of Liquid Pearls in both scale and color. Great job Debbie.

If any of you are so inclined to share your designs with us - please bring them into the store and I'll Blog them. I think it be a lot of fun and provide inspiration for all of us.

Happenings at A Place in Time on November 8, 2011

Good Evening All,

Well, Halloween was a lot of fun this year. We even had some of you come to the store "in costume" to pick up a few things before the big party. I think people who live in this island paradise have more fun with Halloween than anywhere else. My memories of Halloween relate to those of my childhood. I remember dad dressing up as Davy Crockett for a dinner at church. I even remember him wearing a pair of glasses with a big rubber nose each Halloween to greet the trick or treat kids when they rang the front door chime. We probably all have similar memories. It's one of the things I appreciate about taking the time to scrapbook those events. Kylie came dressed in style and I just had to share the photo with you all.

October is gone and it was a great month for us. I want to thank all of you who come to our store from near and far. Priscilla and I appreciate your frequent trips more than you know. Now November is here and lets see if we can build on the momentum that has been generated.

The first holiday to arrive is Veteran's Day - Friday, November 11th. Anybody interested in a Veteran's Day Sale? We have a good one for you Vets out there. All veteran's, active or retired, (this includes spouses) with a valid Military ID will get 10% off your total purchase. This sale is limited to items that are in stock and not already on sale. If you have our discount card you will get an additional 10% off.

As a part of the 3 day Veteran's Day Weekend, we will be having variety of happenings each day:

Copic Pen Demo - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 11:00 am - 12:00 Noon

Make and Take It - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 pm

Stenciling Demo - Friday, Saturday, Sunday 4:00 - 6:00pm

This past weekend Priscilla and I took classes to become certified in the use of the Copic Pens and Products. I took the Beginner Class on Friday and Priscilla completed the Intermediate certification on Sunday. The Copic Pens are a fantastic product and I feel that I've only scratched the surface of the product line's capabilities. You will also see we have added to our display case 42 additional colors for you to chose from. Mariane, the instructor for both Copic certification classes, showed us some amazing things. We hope to relay what we learned to you as best we can.

The last thing that I have for you tonight is more new product has arrived in the store.

We now have two new designs of paper from Basic Grey: "Picadilly" and " Little Black Dress". Of the two, "Picadilly" is more colorful and playful. "Little Black Dress" is subdued formal with the air of simple elegance that I enjoy. They both are two sided cardstock and the difficulty is in deciding which side to use. There are 18 different papers in each design to choose from accompanied with a choice of Brads, Rub-ons, 6x6 Paper Pads, Tithe Stickers, Buttons, and Flower Accents. With each arrival we have moved items around in the store to best display the products for you.

We have two new cartridges for the Eclips Machine. "Albums, Bags, and Boxes #2" and "Card Fronts" are now on the shelves. Priscilla has been having a lot of fun with "Card Fronts". The card makers are going to enjoy the choices held within the cartridge. We have numerous samples for you to see and I guarantee you will be amazed at what can be done.

In time for the coming holidays, we have resupplied the variegated metal leaf product. It adds so much life to your project and I never get tired using it. I find it to be simple and easy, if you haven't done it before, ask and I'll show you how. Even a Marine can do it.

Speaking of Marines - a very important day will be observed this Thursday, November 10th. It's the Marine Corps Birthday. We will be 236 days old - Happy Birthday Devil Dogs. "Here's health to you and to the Corps we serve....." That's the beginning of the 3rd verse in the Marine Corps Hymn. How many of you can tell me how it ends? Come in on Thursday and find out.
