Happenings at A Place in Time on February 19, 2012

Good Evening Everyone,

Many of you have been asking, "when are the Memory Box dies are going to arrive". All I can say is that I may see them tomorrow. The truth is that Memory Box is backlogged in manufacturing the dies. The dies are so popular that they didn't anticipate the high demand. I promise -  I will let you know as soon as they arrive. If the response to this order is the same as previous ones, it will not last a week in the store.

I have some additional information re: upcoming classes. First up is Debbie and Pam's Altered Art Adventure 3 on Saturday, March 24th. It starts at 9:00am and ends at 5:00pm. Debbie and Pam recently conducted this class last Saturday at Rubber Stamp Plantation. Everybody had so much fun that they are asking for more classes in the future. There are seats available and you can call me at the store to reserve a spot.

"Altered Art Adventure 3"
Debbie West (local artist) and Pam Yee (book artist from Michigan) will lead you though two inspiring projects. You'll start the morning with a short "warm up" to get the creative juices flowing! If Altered Art and handmade books attract your attention, you'll Love this day! $80.00 covers materials for ALL projects.
Project #1: Experimenting with a multitude of techniques, you will create unique gelatin monotype prints, Then learn how to incorporate them into other artistic projects. Project 2: You will learn a single-needle Coptic binding stitch as you create a handmade, five-signature book. Bottled water will be provided throughout the day. At the lunch break, there are many great eateries within walking distance. Materials for all of the projects will be provided. You will have the fun of experiencing with some new items. What you need to bring: a basic tool kit (glue, awl, scissors, ruler, pencil/pen, craft knife and cutting mat, bone folder). Optional, but helpful: Scor-pal, brayer. You are welcome to bring personal Ephemera, decorative papers, stamps, ink pads, favorite images, and other "faves" you wish to use in your projects. For the print-making, feel free to bring items to create texture and patterns: feathers, leaves, bubble wrap, bold stamps, plastic comb, etc.

You all know about Priscilla's "Stenciling Techniques" class on Wednesday, March 28th (6:30 - 8:30pm). If you want to learn how easy stencils are to use be sure and sign up. A lot of the "samples" in the store employ the use of this versatile tool. You can see the class samples in the store or visit one of my previous Blogs.

The last class of the month belongs to Pam Yee. "Pocket Full of Dream" will have you making a cool "retro" looking book that is filled with multiple pockets to contain many surprises for someone special. The class is on  Thursday, March 29th (6:30 - 8:30pm). The cost of the class is $20.00. The tools that you will need to bring is: Scor-pal, glue stick, double sided adhesive 12" ruler, pencil, straight cutter, and 7/8" round punch. Wow! Just think of learning a technique that lets you start making books. I think that sounds exciting. Something new for you try.

As I'm writing this Blog, Priscilla is working on a new class. It's the Anniversary Card she gave me last year and was it ever popular at this past Scrapper's Jam. As soon as the "sample" is complete I'll post it, but you can always come in look at the original. Speaking of anniversaries, this Wednesday Priscilla and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. Priscilla is the best and I am very blessed to be walking through life with her at my side.

That's it for now.......I'll see you tomorrow.
